What is leadership?

Who is a leader?

Are leaders born or made?

Different individual will have different theory about leadership. The abundance of literature over the book shelves and internet websites reveals that there are indeed differing ideas on leadership. What we would like to know, is whether there are common denominators among these concepts. As far back as we first nurtured the fascination with leadership, we have been working at defining and measuring leadership. Even Plato and Shakespeare proposed descriptions of leadership cast in the context of their times (see Plato's philosophy pages & Shakespeare's King Henry V). And yet there is no common ground for its meaning, thus depicting the ambiguity of the notion of leadership.

Leadership is one of the most observed and least understood phenomena on earth.

Seeing as we all would have had some kind of deeply personal experience of leadership, either as followers or as leaders ourselves, we contribute this website that has the fusion of informed views on leadership, as mastered after several classroom learning. This website will provide an explanation of what leadership is, with references to key theories and research findings, articles and profiles on people practicing leadership in a variety of settings and possibly, cultural contexts, and links to other useful sites and resources. We hope that the incorporated information can be a great resource for students interested in finding more about leadership.

The self-assessment quizzes can be found on this website. We hope that apart from being informative, they will also engage you in the process of fun learning.
